You NEVER "feel" ready.
How obedience grows you.
Hello Dear One,
The year is moving. Before we know it, we’ll be looking back, not at our intentions, but at the actions we took and the outcomes they produced because inaction in itself is an action.
I’m writing today to those who feel like the instructions God has given them for this season feel too big. Like shoes several sizes too large. Instead of trying to grow into them, we tell ourselves, “This can’t be for me.” And quietly, we abandon the assignment altogether.
I know this feeling well because today, I write to myself too.
There are seasons when what God asks of you feels wildly ahead of who you think you are right now. The vision feels intimidating. The responsibility feels heavy. The gap between where you are and what you’re being called to do feels beyond reach.
Here’s the truth I’ve had to learn the hard way:
God’s assignments often speak to a version of you that only emerges through obedience, not before it.
So when something God asks you to do feels daunting, your response isn’t to figure everything out. Your response is to go back to Him and ask for grace for the first step.
Many times, clarity doesn’t come first. Courage does.
Understanding shouldn’t come first. Obedience should.
Until you move, a lot won’t make sense…
You don’t need all the answers.
You don’t need the full plan.
You don’t need to feel confident, qualified, or ready.
You will NEVER “feel” ready. You just need to take the next honest step because God directs your steps.
The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
~Psalm 37: 23 NLT
And as you do, you’ll discover that God doesn’t expect you to fit into the assignment as you are. The assignment itself is part of how He grows you.
So, when God’s instructions feel overwhelming, instead of running away, try this instead:
1. Acknowledge the assignment: Stop pretending you didn’t hear Him. Name what you believe He’s asking you to do. Find scriptures that affirms you in the assignments, read them out to yourself.
2. Ask for grace, not clarity: Pray for strength to take the first step, not answers for the next ten. Keep praying every step of the way.
3. Take one visible action: One call. One draft. One conversation. One hour of focused effort. Ensure you are taking steps forward. Don’t let fear keep you stuck
4. Stay in motion: Momentum brings understanding. Obedience unlocks direction.
5. Surround yourself with “mirrors of possibilities”: Find people who are already doing the things God has asked you to do, strengthen your heart with testimonies of God’s faithfulness. You are not behind. You are becoming.
If you’re still breathing, this season still has instructions.
And I know you love excellence but while you wait for all the pieces, you just have to start.
Before you begin to overthink things, hit the reply button and tell me the one step you’re committing to this week.
I love you and I am rooting for you.
