Looking in the mirror
... self reflection for personal development
Hello, Dear One,
I lowkey love the calm of Sunday evenings.
It’s that space where you know Monday is coming, but it isn’t here yet. So you permit yourself to enjoy that Sunday nap without guilt. And let’s be honest, Sunday naps hit differently.
Whether you took one today or not, I hope this email feels like a gentle reminder that you’re doing better than you think. More importantly, with a little more intentionality, you can find your genius spot and operate in it with greater confidence than you do today.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve talked about resetting our rhythm so we can show up better in the second half of the year. We’ve reflected on our spiritual lives, our careers, and our personal goals.
I intentionally saved today’s conversation for the very end of June because I want these words to stay with you as you step into July and the second half of the year.
I’m not much of a football fan, but one thing I appreciate about the game is halftime. It’s the moment when players pause to catch their breath, review what worked, adjust their strategy, and prepare for the rest of the match.
Maybe that’s exactly what you need right now. Consider this your halftime. Not to dwell on the first six months, but to gain clarity for the next six.
Take an honest look at your life.
Are you satisfied with the quality of life you’re living?
If not, what is within your control to change?
How is your health? Are you taking care of your body?
How are your relationships with God, your family, your friends, and the people who support you?
What parts of your life feel healthy? Which parts have quietly been asking for your attention?
Before July begins, stand in front of the mirror and answer these questions honestly:
What do I genuinely love about my life right now?
What needs to improve?
What do I need to start doing?
What should I continue?
What should I stop?
The next six months don’t require you to do everything; focus on the things that matter most. Move into this new season with certainty that you are doing what you have been designed to do. Protect your energy. Commit to what aligns with the life you’re trying to build, and give those things your best.
As for me, I’m choosing to focus on strengthening my relationship with God, being more intentional with the people I love, staying healthy, and doing the things I commit to with excellence.
Your turn.
Take a moment to reflect…
This week, don’t just read this email, respond to it.
Take ten quiet minutes and write down your answers to the five questions above. Then finish this sentence:
“By December 31, I’ll be grateful that I...”
Keep that sentence somewhere you’ll see it often. Let it guide the decisions you make over the next six months.
I’d genuinely love to hear from you.
Hit reply and share one area you’re choosing to be intentional about in this next season. Sometimes saying it out loud is the first step toward becoming it.
Have a beautiful week ahead.
I love you, and I am rooting for you.
